Everything you need to know about BNA'25
What specific roles and responsibilities will I undertake as a delegate participating in BNA'25?
As a delegate in BNA’25, you will be part of a 4-6 member delegation and will participate in three out of nine modules (one from each group). Additionally, they must take part in the three mandatory tribulations. They can also choose whether or not to engage in the six optional trials, offering a mix of required and elective challenges.
What are the different categories included in BNA this year?
At BNA, a category refers to a specific set focusing on assessing the delegation’s problem solving and in-depth knowledge, making the event both enjoyable and challenging. There are 3 categories: Modules, Trials and Tribulations.
How do modules function at Beaconhouse Notion of Academia?
At BNA, a module refers to a specialized domain focusing on a specific academic discipline, offering a structured competition format. There are various modules, each named to reflect its focus area, such as ‘Kepler’s Orbits’ for aerospace, ‘Blackwell’s Labyrinth’ for medical, and ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy’ for business, among others. Each module comprises three distinct rounds, designed to progressively challenge and engage the participants in the respective field of study.
How do tribulations function at Beaconhouse Notion of Academia?
At BNA, a tribulation refers to a mandatory, overarching round that will continue throughout the event, focusing on integrating several modules and serving as a bridge to tie them together. There are three tribulations in total, each named meticulously to serve its purpose: ‘SK’s Odyssey’, ‘Raiders of HQ 781’, and ‘Secrets of Vault 27’.
How do trials function at Beaconhouse Notion of Academia?
At BNA, a trial is an optional round available at extended periods with no demerits for absence. The best-performing delegations in these rounds are awarded certain perks that can be game-changers in their progress. Each trial focuses on fun and interactive themes, such as ‘Toriyama’s Arena’ (focusing on fandom), ‘Isaac’s Duel’ (focusing on robotics), and ‘Marsh’s Map’ (focusing on paleohistory), amongst others.
How can perks be game-changers in the progress of a delegation?
Perks will be awarded to delegations with outstanding performance in the six trials. This structure ensures that the optional nature of trials is not disadvantageous to those delegations which opt to not participate in them. Although absence in trials does not negatively impact their score in the leaderboard, delegations that do choose to participate in trials will be competing for six unique perks according to each trial. These are further explained in the brief guides of each respective trial.
How will the leaderboard be maintained throughout the course of BNA’25?
The leaderboard will be maintained according to the performance of delegations in their chosen modules and tribulations. As stated elsewhere, trials will not have a direct impact on the leaderboard and as such, modules and tribulations will be the only determining factors. This leaderboard will be designed to go live at the ends of Day 1 and Day 2 to foster a competitive spirit amongst the delegations.
What steps have been taken to ensure that a delegation can efficiently participate in all three categories?
To ensure that all delegations have a fair and equal chance at participating in all three categories, delegate caps will be enforced in all module rounds, meaning that at all times, some members of a delegation will not be occupied and will be able to participate in trials and tribulations. The trials have been planned accordingly in short time windows to ensure that participation does not become a hassle to delegations. Lastly, the tribulations will be spread across all three days, making it easier to manage simultaneously with other categories.
What are the requirements for registering a delegation at BNA’25?
A minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 delegates can comprise one delegation. Individual delegates will not be entertained at BNA’25. Therefore, you can register as part of either an official or even a private delegation.
